These "Mary Poppins Victorian Carpet Bag" inspired weekender bags, with their ornate vintage inspired tapestry fabric designs, were designed and sewn by me, using my environmentally sustainable 1920s Singer treadle sewing machine, with some elements also hand sewn.
Each spacious weekender bag is the perfect size for a weekend getaway or a trip to a quaint bed & breakfast in the countryside, or alternatively, with its water-resistant canvas internal lining and multiple zipper pockets, the bag is ideal for expectant mothers wishing to add a touch of vintage charm to their practical maternity bag. For craft enthusiasts, the bag doubles as an extra-large knitting, crochet, or sewing project bag, with concealed zipper pockets to keep your supplies organized and secure. Using premium quality Gutermann extra-strong thread and thick upholstery tapestry fabric, this limited edition weekender bag includes:
(a) pleated detailing on both sides,
(b) an internal hinge aluminium tubular carpet bag frame,
(c) brown aged leather-look (pleather) handles (I also made these handles - they are not pre-made/shop bought);
(d) additional removable cross-body strap in the same fabric as the bag (I also made this cross-body strap);
(e) water resistant canvas internal bag lining with additional interfacing (see image bottom right);
(f) a solid base with six antique gold/brass coloured bag feet;
(g) five internal pockets - including two that are zipper pockets with 29-30 cm covered zippers to protect clothes and valuables; and
(h) multiple layers of interfacing, making this bag upright and self supporting. When taking the photos of this handbag, no fillers were used inside the bag to prop it up.
My bags have varying dimensions, as I make my bags to accommodate (and flaunt!) the different gorgeous patterns. The dimensions are set out in the individual listings. Please do not assume that the other weekender bags I have listed will be the same size as this one!
The bags that I list in my shop are ready-made, limited edition or one-of-a-kind unique pieces, I don't mass produce and I don't list sample bags to be made to order at an overseas workroom/factory, so when you purchase one of my bags, you can be confident that it is a genuinely unique handmade product which will be dispatched quickly to you for your use and enjoyment!

WARNING: Whilst you may carefully iron the outer and inner shell of the bag on a warm/medium setting (not hot and no steam), please DO NOT iron the pleather bag handles and avoid the heat/steam/water of the iron (even heat from the ironing board) coming in close contact with the pleather handles, as they will burn.
