I both designed and sewed these timeless "Mary Poppins Victorian Carpet Bag" inspired handbags, using my environmentally sustainable 1920s Singer treadle sewing machine, with some elements hand sewn.
With vintage inspired tapestry fabric designs, these handbags are a lovely size for:
- a women's everyday bag or work bag,
- a special occasion or garden party, or
- a bridesmaid or wedding handbag.

In addition, the Black/White Bird & Blue Persian bags, being the larger of the designs, can also be used as elegant daily crafting/knitting/crocheting project bags!

Using upholstery grade tapestry fabric, these ornate handbags include:
(a) premium quality Gutermann extra-strong thread;
(b) pleated detailing on both sides;
(c) an internal hinge aluminium tubular carpet bag frame;
(d) additional centre strap with magnetic close and antique gold/brass coloured button detailing;
(e) brown aged look pleather fabric handles;
(f) fully lined inside with multiple internal pockets, with 100% cotton quilting fabric and interfacing for internal bag lining (different lining fabrics chosen to complement the outer fabric);
(g) a reinforced base with six antique gold/brass coloured bag feet; and
(h) multiple layers of interfacing, making the bag upright and self supporting. When taking the photos of these handbags, no fillers were used inside the bag to prop it up.
My handbags have varying dimensions, as I make my handbags to accommodate (and flaunt!) the different gorgeous fabric patterns. The dimensions are set out above under each bag heading.
The handbags that I list in my shop are ready-made, limited edition or one of a kind unique pieces, I don't mass produce and I don't list sample bags to be made to order at an overseas workroom/factory, so when you purchase one of my handbags, you can be confident that it is a genuinely unique handmade product which will be dispatched quickly to you for your use and enjoyment!

WARNING: Whilst you may carefully iron the outer and inner shell of the bag on a warm/medium setting (not hot and no steam), please DO NOT iron the pleather bag handles and avoid the heat/steam/water of the iron (even heat from the ironing board) coming in close contact with the pleather handles, as they will burn.
